Direct manager is so biased , doesn't have technical skills set to judge anyone's performance, asks questions like why 20 lines of code took you 3 hours, promotes people (with middle- school level coding skills) who licks his boots, so on! I feel so stuck and helpless :(
Similar situation, but a bit worse (contracting). Iām headed to Canada. I donāt think I can make it here at my age (32, married) and visa situation (H1B)
How about escalating to higher mgmt?
The H1B visas are a scam to produce indentured servents. Keeps you docile like good little worker bees. The option is to go back to your country where they can't hang deportation over your head.
Are you stuck due to visa or GC. Bcoz visa is easy to tfer in 2 weeks. If GC if you arenāt from India you can wait for a year and get GC. If you are from India not worth to wait hoping for GC, you can keep tfering between companies as GC will take lifetime.
First of all - Why are you stuck because of GC or Visa? Pull out and do something for your country (I wish I had back then). I am sorry but - if you dislike work, transfer to another company - not too hard to do and i-140 can be transferred due to AC 21H so why care?

I am in the same boat š¢ I am so micromanaged that I give hourly (sometimes even minute-ly) updates to my manager. But can't move because firstly it's difficult to crack interviews (tried a few but failed), and secondly I am stuck with visa issues š¢š¢ I just want this to end! <literally crying>
I feel you! :( I cleared interview with a top fintech company with multiple coding rounds and f2f and was offered but they lowballed me due to h1 and I was still desperate and they pulled back before signing saying they changed their mind about h1 sponsor since I have had 2 shots in lottery left :( Sometimes I go the restroom in my office, lock myself and have a nervous breakdown!
