27 years old, recently married 2 mos ago to wife (28 yo), just got back from honeymoon in Greece/Italy and also recently bought a home in the east bay about 6 mos ago. 1.3 million home, 500k down. Mortgage+property tax per month is about 5k. Big expenses like wedding and furnishing home are out of the way, so monthly expense is no more than 2k a month. Our total comp is about 420k. Currently both max out on 401k every year since 22. I have about 130k in stocks. About 140k in cash. I guess my question is, what should I do with my life now... Seems like life is going to be pretty comfortable from here on out but nothing super life changing. Like what should I do with 140k cash? Invest it? What do I do with all the extra cash that we save per month/year? Seems like a lot of excess. Should I have a kid? Seems a bit too quick. Should I buy a Tesla? Is this considered a lot of money? Do I need to save more? Market seems bear, not sure what to do. Sit on cash? Not trying to show off but really sort of confused. Everything seems a bit anticlimactic...
You, son, need two things in yo life. Bitcoin and religion.
This post is BS. Lol
What why did you say that?
So you want climax? Well, then do it!
Payoff the house I’d say, but it’s 2am here and I’m awake reading bogleheads archives from when the 2008 crash happened (pretty grim reading overall, this is what got me started: https://reddit.com/r/financialindependence/comments/8u95rg/what_does_this_boardcommunity_look_like_in_a_crash/ )
That's a good read. Thanks!
Same situation. My life goal is to enjoy my life, raise my kids to be good men and fishing. Lots of fishing. Hope long to buy a boat one day.
Find a passion. Invest in that. Don’t have kids because they ruin everything and you are wired to love them anyway. It’s terrible.
Lol @ they ruin everything, but you are wired to love them anyway.
Read up about FIRE. You have a long way to go. It may all be going smooth right but that can change in matter of days. People working at bear sterns in 2008 had no clue the top company they were working for will be gone the next day but their mortgage etc won't go away.
That’s good advice
Thanks
Nice job on your saving but don’t waste on a Tesla. Just get a Toyota or Honda and invest the money in something give you more cash flow. Like real estate in Austin or Seattle. Rent it out and claim it as second home so won’t need to report on tax
On a side note - A lot of them envy to have your life!
