I just got lots of $$$. Severance package, bonus and accumulated pension from leaving AT&T. Also, just got $250k windfall. Where is the best place to invest this? Started a new job that pays +48% above last salary so don’t need cash now. No credit card and Bernie is writing off student loans, lol. Where do I invest? I’m just 35 yy. TC: 182k
howd you managed a sev package that’s a dream come true
Great timing. Offered severance when I already have my resume done and about to start looking. Got many offers within a week.
Dang.. so how much do you have total? Since you young, you can just vest and rest. I will look at real estate, the apr is all-time low
is this a satire post
I’d be pissed if I don’t get a refund on my student loans
Maybe tell us how much u have to invest and then we can recommend
$500k plus in cash.
Just dump into s&p 500 (buy $voo) which is at a discount now because of coronavirus. Listen to "Brilliant vs Boring" podcast by planet money. 20 mins of your time to convince you why this is the right decision to make.
No matter what you end up investing in, remember to diversify
Thx
You can look to getting a private banker and letting them invest it. Or you can manage it yourself. If you choose to do this, try to slice it up based on your goals and do a percent allocation. Maybe 50% in index, 30% in gold etf, 15% in fixed income, 4% in small cap, 1% in high risk stocks If you want to stay away from stocks, you can always look to invest in real estate and make rent income (depends on location) or even invest/lend to startups
Private bankers are not worth it until you have 10 million +. If you have a small pot they won't tailor it as well to your needs because they have hundreds of other clients too.
TVIX for next few weeks. 40% VTI, 40% QQQ and 20% TFI after that.
Pick 20 stocks with solid dividend growth history and plunk $25k in each. Diversify across 5 industries x 4 companies each with current yield of at least 3%. Reinvest all dividends ... your money will grow to $1M+ in 10 years with average 7% return and keep generating a healthy cash flow that you can use to pay the bills without touching the principal ...
I am a noob. Where is the cash flow coming from if you are reinvesting? And, do you have this list of 20 stocks?
Perfect timing! It couldn’t have come at a better time. The markets have crashed.
