What’s a good career change?

I’ve been in my current role for 4 years and with the company for 6. I’m burnt out. It’s a customer-facing role with lots of talking on the phone, micro-managing, etc. I’m very technical and creative, but I don’t have any major programming skillsets...just things like HTML5, WordPress, and web/graphic design. I’ve been a trainer and led workshops in the past. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a transition? I’d rather not have to deal with phone support or queues, etc. Ticket systems, maybe.

If you're interested in programing: Take a class to learn a programing language you think might be interesting. Then spend a year contributing to an interesting open source project. Then see about making a ladder change at work.

I definitely have an interest and want to learn a language or two, but I’m burnt to a crisp. I need a career change as soon as possible for my own sanity. I have an idea to create a plugin for FCPX, VLC and Adobe Premier to create a “Light Track” to control Phillips Hue lights that I’d love to build.

Sounds like a good project. Good luck

Learn SQL and become a data analyst at Apple

I feel like Apple, even as an internal hire, would want someone who has career experience with SQL

Euler, which teams could OP approach for a dat analyst role?

What does that entail?

Take a beginning C as a start, then a beginning Python. They build up your programming skills. They will be handy.
