Why doesn't OpenAI offshore and reduce expense by 80%
If I think crypto is a giant scam and speculative bubble, would it be terrible working at Square? How goofy - or disconnected - is the CEO in real life? Feels like there should still be a lot of interesting financial projects to work on, like Cash.app, but wondering how tainted they are by a Blockchain focus. #tech #square #block
Seller side doesn’t work on crypto at all
Never had to interact with crypto. I'd guess less than 5% of the company works anything crypto related
how involved or not is Jack?
Yea this looks to be a bit of a marketing failure on our end. Crypto is small piece of the pie and most of us don't really hear about crypto in our day to day. From the outside though I feel like everyone thinks we're all gung-ho in on crypto.
to be fair it’s most of what your CEO talks about publicly
This was also a major concern of mine before joining the company - I did not want to work on crypto. Most of the company is working on typical fintech stuff so I think you’d be fine
Crypto is mostly siloed thanks to the hardware wallet project. There’s some folks on cash working on adding crypto features to the app but otherwise it doesn’t affect me at all. There’s tons of (loud) crypto skeptics here so I definitely don’t feel like I’m in an echo chamber.
If you don't work on a crypto team, it doesn't really affect you. I'm on the Cash side and I don't touch nor do I really need to think about crypto, aside from maybe other teams talking about crypto related projects at all hands.
is there any sense (or fear) inside that management will bet the company on crypto?
Not even slightly.
