strange. i would think projects, because you are simultaneously learning and utilizing in what You are passionate about. as an intern, you might not always have a choice of your playground. and a thirst for kool-aid may be required.
But the latter is more likely to be the environment in which you work, so it's a greater indication of how well someone will perform.
Projects are ok if no internship, if they're published research at your University, I'd probably rate that above an internship

Depends. Projects > if big or popular (massively popular), maybe? Otherwise internships. Ex: Discord bot on 2 million servers that tens of millions use daily versus interning at a no-name outfit doing nothing.
