What's so toxic about cruise?

I've heard it on Blind and through friends, but what makes it so toxic? Why does everyone say that the company is terrible? Would you never consider moving there? Should I not?

Oh crap I am trying to interview with them!!!

Don't know much about the work. But in the last 1 month I have had 5 recruiters connect with me and then not follow up. It seems a bit disorganized. I assume growing rapidly comes with that.

The most toxic part is the illiquid equity

How is that different from any other pre IPO company?

Cruise Automation pwiwnspw1 Sep 19, 2019

Like any other private company?

I’ve personally heard no work life balance, high turn over, and organizational discord, but that’s all second hand information.

Cruise Automation ⛸️ Sep 19, 2019

There's some work life balance. People tend to leave on time if you're not management or staff level but people do take work home too. But yeah management tends to leave late for some reason

Tesla ujOi24 Sep 19, 2019

Interesting. Ex tesla people folks working there mention that work life balance is way better. Looks like the bar is already really low for them

After the split with Kidman, everything went south

Not true. This really depends on your team and manager. My experience has been testy at times but decent, but other close friends of mine have had to deal with terrible WLB, poor management, and a toxic fear-based motivation culture. I’ve experienced all three at times, and while I don’t think it spoils the whole meal, it isn’t just a few disgruntled people posting in concert

My experience has been wonderful. I love my team and have a great work life balance.

https://thelastdriverlicenseholder.com/2019/08/01/gm-cruise-we-have-to-talk-about-your-shitty-workplace-situation/ This guy, as you can tell by his website name, isn’t exactly a fan of the industry. He scoured public Blind posts for toxic employees and wrote an article about it. That article spread and somehow became truth. You could write the same article about every single employee by searching the employer name on Blind and finding the bad.

Cruise Automation pwiwnspw1 Sep 19, 2019

Who is actually using Blind as a good measure? Christ.

Cruise Automation prcption Sep 19, 2019

We are living in world where TC matters considering high cost of living. Many can deal with toxicity for higher TC. At Cruise RSU refreshers are hard to get. No bonus multiplier. Base salary raise are okies. Long term that affects TC. Hence ppl who cares about TC are leaving.

Cruise Automation pwiwnspw1 Sep 19, 2019

The bonus has a multiplier.

Cruise Automation prcption Sep 19, 2019

No, no no, no no no. It's fixed bonus and there are no multiplier.

Cruise Automation BYCB22 Sep 19, 2019

Its not in my experience and I feel there are a few pissed people on blind giving us a bad rep . My experience has been great and I've been able to grow a lot in a short time

Cruise Automation KyleFan Sep 20, 2019

That's great, can you please elaborate on how did you grow a lot in short time?

Cruise Automation scaleai Sep 21, 2019

Lol everyone grows to be a senior engineer and gets stuck there. 😂
