My cousin is in India and wants to know what universities she should apply for in the US. She is interested in pursuing MS in CS here but isn't sure which universities would be interested given her current years of experience (2 yrs as a s/w developer) and tentative gre score (~310). E What's the best approach to filter down to top 5 school choices before she applies?

Thegradcafe.com is a but manual but you get good information.
What? She should apply to every school possible. Degrees in CS are about what courses you take. Most Master's programs in CS don't care about YOE nor GRE. How are her abilities in Math? Has she programmed before? What was her previous academic record/GPA? Your friend hits all these marks and can get into almost any Computer Science master's in the US. No. Not the "top" schools people fuss over. But education in the US is not like in other countries. Every school is pretty good, and employers test for skills! Stop worrying about which school and apply to any. In biased fashion, I suggest a University in the state of California. Compare curriculum not school rank. This is the United States.

TBH, Schools are classified as either ivy or not. Ask her to LEETCODE from today. The earlier the better. Damn I wish some one told me this during my college. And if 310 and decent GPA above 7.5 Texas Dallas, Arlington And 310 should get you information science or something in ASU. NCSU Boulder USC Safest I would say Arlington ITM
Not sure for the US. In the UK, experienced people usually do MSc in Advanced CS. There are also MSc in CS but these are usually for people without any programming background. In the UK, you can find MSc like that at Imperial, UCL, Un of Oxford and Un of Birmingham.
