What's the rudest thing someone at work has said to you before?
Once at a team building activity we played that game where you shove as many marshmallows in your mouth as possible. Because I'm super competitive I put 22 full sized marshmallows in my mouth. My manager immediately said, "If you ever go to prison you will be really popular." I'm a straight guy by the way. The whole room was silent for like a minute. I had no idea what to say after that. That was 5 years ago and I no longer work there thank goodness. What's the most awkward thing someone's said to you at work?
"You're so short that I can put my beer on your head" 😳 Guess what? He's was right!
Get some platform shoes, or wear tall socks.

Not directed at me, but at a team dinner my VP and director started a conversation comparing different sex toys and made very graphic descriptions of using them (hand gestures, etc.). This was my first job out of college at a public Fortune 500 tech company, I was 21 (F) and they were both men in their mid 50s. Had to sit next to them both the entire event.
Super creepy. I get how you would be feeling, I would want to run away from that place and probably wish I never worked there.
Yep - wanted to melt into the floor the entire time. Stayed there long enough to make it look good on my resume & got the hell out of there. Probably a lot of other things that were screwed up that I don’t even remember, TBH - very old-school sales culture. At the time I just assumed “well shit, I guess this is what work is.”
WOW! Why does none of this become HR issues!? How on earth do these incidents get shoved under the carpet!? Irrespective of gender, this is work place abuse and should not be tolerated! I’m not one for public shaming but I would definitely love some way of knowing of someone’s history before hiring. I’ve witnessed an incident where a male co-worker publicly (on his VLOG) confessed his feelings for a female coworker and expressed how he plans to intoxicate her and take advantage of her during a team offsite. Disgusting!! Employee was fired. Hopefully a police report flags this during background review but there are tons that don’t get escalated to a formal police complaint and are lost in the ether.

With the CTO visiting, we had a night of limo, bars and gold clubs. Before we leave, my manager openly said X need not join because he is living another lifestyle. We had an omg moment. But the gay coworker passed it off lightheartedly. Anyway, it was the best firm paid excursion ever. (Not my current firm)

OP should've laughed it off, doesn't sound like they meant to bully you. Instead your group made it weird. I would never laugh that out. Only because the takeaway there was “My manager .....”. This may have been a laughable incident, but that manager should be educated. It may feel like we are over sensitizing the work place but in reality these do have more nefarious long term consequence from office culture, manager abuse, employee health and in general a shitty work environment.
This was at a previous company; I (20 something female) always had older men come and talk to me and just be friendly. One time I was grabbing salad and adding some pepper using a pepper shaker; this older guy comes to me and asks if I can put some on his salad, I was like - eh okay. So I am crushing some pepper and he comes closer and lower his voice and tells - "you grind well" The tone of what he said was so creepy and I bet had some sexual connotation.

Not work. Male here. Recently went to ENT doctor. He commented on how fit I looked while sizing me up and down with his eyes. I had a benign growth removed from the inside of my cheek and he told me I can now eat all the ice cream popsicles I wanted while making the motion with his hand and mouth WTF.
That's just messed up.

Twice, in my career, I’ve had two men tell me if they weren’t married, they’d f$&@ me. There’s been other awkward stuff, but that was the worst. One of the men was, as I later found out after filing a police report for stalking me, had been stalking other women. He had been calling me 20-30x/day at work and home - back in the day when people had landlines and listed numbers. He would say dirty things but also scream into the phone, tell me he was coming for me - he worked at an office out-of-state, and such. The police report got filed right before another woman (who was also stalked) and I were laid off - not related, of course. However, I had to inform HR post-lay-off that I had no further issues and the HR woman alluded to me, in not so many words, he’d been “a problem” since he was hired and subsequently fired. The last I heard was that he was trying to sue the company for firing him. This happened almost 15 years ago and there are times, with social media, I worry he will find me and stalk me again. That feeling never goes away.
Sorry you had to deal with those guys. I don't understand how people like that stay employed.
Thank you. The good thing is I know not all men are like that; I’ve worked with fellow women who’ve had similar experiences and then hated working with men - but tolerated it. Sadly, even today, it happens because at some companies, groups of men will protect each other.
