What’s up with AliBaBa?

It keeps going down and lately Ma going to retire. Though I feel it’s great company but I am wondering how long the downtrend will be?

Similar to Larry Page and Google, Ma has many companies/unicorns in his profolio. It made sense for him to step down and focus more on new stuff. This actually show his confidence in Alibaba being able to run w/o him

“Downtrend” likely to be caused by trade war between US and China. Ali is doing super well in China

Trade war mostly. Alibaba was known as the mother of all Chinese knockoff market place.

I have complete faith that Alibaba will recover soon and do very well - Ma Jack

China is making a left turn. This is a gesture of him to show that he will not stick to the company and will “serve the country” when necessary. “Chinese entrepreneurs won’t end up well. Look at the present and past. Only few of them could survive.” said he in 2013.

are you suggesting that he might serve in prison if he doesn’t retire?

That would be extreme and unlikely to happen in today’s China as long as he is clean in general. But he might be forced to step down somehow.
