I've seen it happen so often. Not at FAANG but moreso at startups and even established companies. Why do they give so much responsibility to very young people (23 year olds)? I've never once seen a young product manager like that succeed. Not trying to diss on the young PMs out there. Y'all hustle hard. But you often need a certain amount of perspective in order to understand markets, relationships, the eng and design sides, etc. Of course there are exceptions... But why do you think so many companies hire such young PMs?
The next generation PMs need to start somewhere. But giving inexperienced PMs the full responsibility of a product is asking for failure. They need to shadow and build up experience somehow before taking over any product.
Exactly. Hire them as associates or PM with limited scope and a good mentor. Or let them get experience as BA, software developer, product designer, etc.
Exactly. They'll be way more effective learning under a mentor than just throwing them in a pull PM role. Unfortunately many companies are still working on this
What is these PMs’ TC?
Because they're cheaper
Because most people don’t know what PMs do. A lot of people think if you’re an ex consultant / banker / MBA you’re immediately qualified to PM. Others pick people from marketing / customer service / project management. You end up with people who don’t know how to build software or how to work with those that do.
Well said.
More and better experienced PMs are had to find and demand more money.
Nah. The VPs/Heads of Product are intimidated by older, more sexually experienced women
Relax Hulu man, did you find out the PM’s salary and then make this post?
Tis I, HULU MAN. I've come to save the day with my GRADIENT POWER
Thank you for looking out for pm’s Hulu man!
'Cuz the VP/Head of Product has a lil 🍤 and a fetish for new grads?
^ Hilarious and, more than likely, spot on!
Maybe because most experienced PMs still have zero clue what they are doing so might as well save some money?
Ha! You may be onto something there...

Tipping culture is really getting out of control! Waiter gave me ‘a look’ because I tipped her 10% for ‘BAD service!’
Are they hot?
How are the PMs in Facebook? Are they attractive?
Not as attractive as some of the recruiters here...😩
