I need to vest before this market crashes. Too much risk on the table. Who else is exposed to the market and how are they mitigating risk?
The market fell because of moratorium on stock buybacks before the quarterly earnings release. It will bounce back after the blackout season. It happens every autumn. This year it's a bit more drastic because of the new tax cuts. Thank the moron aka the 45th.
I’m mitigating risk by not vesting whenever the market moves.
We are all exposed, but the key is to structure your investments that anything you need short term, will be protected from market fluctuations.
The standard way is to to buy Put options for the amount of stock you are going to vest over next couple of years. It's insurance against price decline, with a fixed date of expiry and you have to pay to buy it. But the right time to do it is when stock is super high... too late for me.
Not too late for you, dumbass - you’re not allowed to trade FB derivatives ever. Don’t even think about it.
FB employees are not allowed to. But many other companies have no such restrictions, at least for regular employees.
The stock market is being very normal, noob
