I've had offers in the 175 - 240 range and got an on-site with Amazon once but otherwise have never even gotten a phone screen from FAANGMULA. What do I need to work on in my career to have a shot?

In case unclear: *everything* is wrong with your resume
Adding that in over 100 Amazon interviews I've seen plenty of gaps and generally don't care at all nor have I ever seen it raised as an issue in the decision making process. It's because your resume looks like a C- at best. The only thing you have going for you is that you're an sde, but I mostly cancel that out because you're getting an online degree.
And are people online actually willing to refer total strangers like that? I thought the point of a referral is that you actually know the person
