Garbage producs from sketchy Chinese “companies”, in some cases toxic (plates containing lead, memory foam pillows releasing harmbul VOC) or non-compliant and unsafe (exploding plug-in night lights). My returns have been waiting for 5 days to be picked up. Cleaning supplies cost twice what they do at Target and Home Depot. How is Amazon still in business? I call this to be the beginning if the end for Amazon. It won’t be hard to crush those dinky sub-5% profit margins.
They're still in business because people are lazy. Also, you're just one tiny data point.
Actually I started to hear such stories very frequently from friends, co-workers, etc. per online articles it seems Walmart and Target are slowly stealing their customers.
I don't disagree. I think there are some shitty products on our website too. But this is anecdotal. Someone in Amazon is reading the metrics and looking at the data. If they think Amazon is still doing fine, then nothing will change.
It was bound to happen. As soon as logistics became a more or less leveled field with other retailers, Amazon pressed the gas on increasing selection from sketchy sellsers.
I don't trust Amazon reviews and try to buy from elsewhere as much as possible right now.
Most amazon reviews are fake
If it’s “sold and shipped by Amazon,” quality is pretty much 100% assured If it’s not sold AND shipped/fulfilled by Amazon, unfortunately you’re rolling the dice. I got burned 6-7 years ago from cheap Chinese trash and now only order “shipped and sold by Amazon.”

I don't work for Amazon but I do agree with ^. Also, why have your returns get picked up instead of you dropping them off, this would save you money?
Target, a Minnesota based company is kicking ass with their innovative approach to retail and grocery. Same goes to Best Buy, headquartered in Minnesota. Here is the funny part, both of these companies pay in 90-120k for SWE roles and most of these are midwestern folks with strong local ties from local colleges. Interviews to these companies are straightforward 1 phone and 1 onsite with 2-4 folks. Just goes to show how funny Amazon interview process looks making it look impossible to get into Amazon and then paying $200k+ and still cannot compete with companies like Target and Best Buy.
When Amazon started , target was already everywhere. Yet, Target price match guaranty don’t match amazon price (same product). they are not efficient enough to match amazon price. Most targets are empty. Target website payment and even store check outs were down multiple times in last few years. Walmart.com at least tries to beat amazon price .
It all happened on a warm July morning in 2018. Gather round and I shall tell you a tale
Prime day?
Even if you can find a better alternative, it is still hard to put a company out of business. For example, there are so many far superior alternatives to Bloomberg’s shitty terminal, and the company is still in business today.
Just curious, what are these alternatives?
Go to a store and ask for something they most likely don't have, but should have. They will tell you to go to Amazon. Store employees will tell you that. Other than that imagine buying computer or something that's not cheap. Amazon shipped a box and charged a good percentage from it. Easy money, considering they set up the whole logistics operations. Quantity vs Quality is definitely about Amazon.
When? Ever since it launched
One word: convenience.
