When do Apple employees get family and friends discount for new products?
I have a friend at Apple and want to get the new MacBook using their friends/family discount, but apparently employees cannot purchase it with the discount yet. When does the discount become available for new products like this?

I think they get one big discount for themselves (somewhere around 20%) and can use it on a large ticket item. Then family and friends is a slightly less discount (maybe 10-15%?) from what I remember it’s not much and they are limited on how many times they can use it. Apple is pretty stingy they don’t give their employees any freebies.
I don’t think you have much idea so putting it out here. Apple provides really generous product discounts. For friends and family, its 10 discounts per product per year which is 17% each. Personal discounts are 1 per product per year which is 27%. These are over and above the discounted price at which you purchase the product at amazon or any other e-commerce website or physical store.
^this is specific to India. In other locations you need to purchase the product from the apple store though at 15% and 25% discount rates respectively.
There’s no set time for F&F. It opens up once demand for the product decreases. At this rate, you’ll see refurb’s before F&F opens up.
It usually takes a few weeks for the discount for new product to show up on the portal.

From few weeks to few months no one knows. If you in hurry get your friend to buy it in-store or just wait.
Thanks for asking this Q, OP. I'm also in the same boat as you, planning to get the new iPhone 13 Pro Max through a friend at the fruit company. But looks like I'm not in luck to avail F&F discounts anytime soon.
