Hi guys, I found this website a couple of weeks ago and since then I was kinda addicted to it. It is truly amazing how helpful many of you guys are. I think like many other IT people, it's also one of my dreams to work at Google. Briefly, a little bit about my person. I am 24 years old and have a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Business Informatics. I did both studies on a part-time basis, so I've actually been working since 2013 for a small IT company. I started as a Linux system administrator (technical) and currently I am working in project management (less technical). I have to say that I don't have any coding experience at the moment. Just a little Bash, SQL etc. but I'm not counting that. :-) My goal now is to dive more into the technical track, which means I want to learn Python. That's why I'm currently taking a course at Udemy to understand all the basics of Python. Then I want to think about one or two projects based on my knowledge, which I could complete. After that, I am going to practice coding interviews on AlgoExpert (www.algoexpert.io), go through the book Cracking the Coding and browse a bit on LeetCode (https://leetcode.com/). My question now is, when do I know, that I am ready for the Google Code interview? Thank you in advance for the answers. :-)
When you will be able solve medium questions on leetcode without any help in half hour you will be ready. You will be ready... Start practicing.... Set goals... Keep algoexpert aside for a moment... Leetcode is a great start... Do easy ones, once you become good in it, start mediums, and finally before interview go for Hard ones atleast become comfortable atleast in it
Sounds fair enough. Thank you đ
Sounds reasonable to me. Good luck op!
You're good enough to pass the interview, when you pass it
That's deep
FYI there are roles at Google besides swe, such as pure IT roles, sys admin etc
âIt is truly amazing how helpful many of you guys are.â - you just havenât spend enough time here. There are not enough bridges to house all the trolls that come here to visit :)
It will take like 10 years. Keep learning.
Search for people like you and make a whatsapp or discord channel and create a study group. Assuming you have programming experience you can get up to speed in 3 or 6 months. Just spend 18 hour a day and try to solve each leetcode problem atleast 3 times. Don't solve it on single day though. Repetition is the key. Solve the problem today and then take a look at it after 1 week. Just remember that there are undergrads spending â and hours a day just on leetcode
You don't know until you have tried. And it also depends on luck

If you gotta ask the question, you are not ready my friend :)
Sure I am not. Since I just started learning the basics of Python in Udemy :-)
My point is, you will know when you are ready when you don't have to ask the question.
