How long would you wait after joining a new company to update your LinkedIn profile? Is there any reason(s) to hold off from updating it ASAP?
Seeing a trend where people donβt do it ASAP. I wanted to know why. FOMO I guess
Let's people move almost immediately without advertising it. Can happen if team turns out to be bad or if something screws up in hiring process like budget or headcount disappearing. Also useful if you're juggling a current for-sure offer and a better one that's only a maybe (but don't do this, you really screw the former hiring manager if you leave in a week... though better a week than a month I guess)
For me I always want to set it ASAP, but it would be embarrassing if I had to change it (for example accepting another offer later, or rescind). Iβve have rescind happen two different times. So for me the risk of social embarrassment is not worth it.
I always wait a month or two
It's only relevant when you are looking for a job , once you have a job it's useless. Your current manager, after switchin, is not judging you by your LinkedIn profile.
So you mean I can change it the day I start?
No one cares , it's irrelevant. I haven't changed it yet....I switched job 5 years ago.... It's pointless.
I notice a trend on Linkedin where people post a picture of themself and announce that they accepted the offer from the new company....
I know people who post their promotions / new titles on LinkedIn before it is officially announced at work. Seriously, the only person who cares is the poster.
I always set it on my first day of work
