When to drink scotch?

Lets say you have a big party to attend. Nice dinner at 9p, which will be accompanied with some nice wine. Do you prefer to have your scotch after the big meal or a couple of hours before the dinner? How about both? Any other suggestions welcome. Also neat or on the rocks?

Whisky stones. Splash of water or not depends on the scotch.

I would drink scotch all day if I could but I'm 5'0 and 115 lbs so I think it'd be a bad look.

Never mix your scotch, only scotch, only single malt. Everything else does not matter
