I'm working at a bank right now as an SDE and recently got an offer from Amazon. I have officially accepted the position through the online portal and they've given me a start date of late September. The recruiter said over the next few weeks I'll be receiving on-boarding forms for joining. My question is: when is it "safe" for me to put in my two weeks notice with my manager? Should I wait until literally everything is taken care of or is the fact that I've accepted good enough? Thanks!
Accept, go through the background check first
Accept pass the background check so you know you are definitely working there. Tell your manager 3 weeks before your last day, tell everyone else 2 weeks
Play it safe. I’ve seen wonky BG results that may have to be rectified. Similar name or SSN. Rare, but possible
I have accepted positions with “my start date will be 2 weeks after paperwork is settled “
If your manager is cool just tell them and explain it is not finalized yet so you do not want to tell the team until then
Many companies will tell you to just leave when you give notice.
Did your background check go through already?
No but I've gone through one for my current job (happened back in March) and past internships. I can't imagine I wouldn't pass this one within a few months of having one.
