When will I be able to get callbacks for Interviews?

I graduated college in 2019 and my goal was to move to NYC. When I graduated I couldnt get much interviews despite getting referrals and working on my resume. I went to a no name school and had no real experience so this is expected. Amazon was the only decent company I could get so I moved to Seattle. How many months/years with Amazon on my resume before I should be able to get interview calls in NYC? Im looking for good companies like Bloomberg, Spotify, Google, FB, Squarespace, etc. It doesnt have to be tier 1. I can leetcode really well so itll be easier for me if the companies ask leetcode. Have you tried Angelist A-list? If you are good and need a foot in the door to NYC, there are tons of startups in NYC that could use your talents.

What’s considered good? I’m a new grad and don’t have too much experience. I can leetcode well but I don’t think startups ask keetcode.

LeetCode is still common for startups. Good is "do they like you and think you will fit". Same as for every other firm.

how well do you leetcode?

For completely unseen questions, 10 min easy, 20 min medium, 40 - 60 min hard. Most questions I’ve either seen or seen something of a similar pattern which can cut down the time a lot.

TC? With amazon on your resume, I dont think it will be hard for you to get interviews in NYC, or anywhere.

How long does that take? What if you’ve only been working at Amazon for 6 months?

I would wait for it to turn to a year

I’m in the NYC market. You can either come in here as a new grad, or senior SWE (L5) and above. It’s really difficult to come in between those two points, unless you’re joining a non FAANG. Your best bet at this point is to wait it out at amazon for a year and push for an internal transfer within amazon itself. Otherwise, just keep applying and pushing.
