Total YOE - 13 years Fulltime in Cisco - 7 years Grade - G10 Location: San Jose, CA Base sal - 138k Yearly Bonus - 15% RSUs - 550 units total Role - Full Stack Engineer & leading a small team Work is good and satisfying, manager is also long time good rapport with him. No complaints. I want to know if this compensation is good enough in the market to stay for longer or should I start looking for better options.
For Bay Area and YOE seems low.
Agreed. Not all 13 years YOE is in US though, half of that is in my home country before I emigrated here and took up the Cisco job. My employer had immigration and relocation costs for me, hence my initial Cisco offer was lower than market too. Had to grow from that to reach current levels in these 7 years.
I think foreign experience is downweighted since so many foreigners lie about work and edu exp.
Dude I make more than that as a grade 8 with 3 years experience
Care to share your TC, so I have a point of reference?
Also in most companies newer hires tend to have higher salaries than those that stay. RSUs may help make up the difference but realistically unless you fight for top comp every year you'll end up behind a bit (whether that matters to the individual is a different matter)
Op it takes courage to come out and take feedback. I am sure you will now do what is the need of the hour. Money isn't everything, and to each their own.
Thank you. I never gave much importance to TC. I enjoy the flexible work hours and remote work options, and I need it frequently for some personal reasons. Work is good, always got something to learn in the 7 years here.. which is what kept me going so long.
Don't. People in blind care too much about TC. It's ridiculous.
Get competing offers, use that to get a raise
Don't do that, just take one of the offers. Playing holdup rarely works out in the end.
Worth a try, if theres no raise then its probably better to take the offer
This seems low. I knw G8 with a base of over 145k. And around 20k worth of rsu yearly.
Low. Grade 10 should have a higher walkaway especially āleading a small team.ā But it also sounds like this is some nonsense project (āfull stackā). If you DM me we can put sanity on it.
So sick of the full stack buzzword. Any SE worth a damn is "full stack"
Eh. Front end is where you stuff junior guys which is why most of the frameworks and libraries are half-baked shit. As soon as they get enough experience they move on to the real engineering tasks.
My offer out of school was higher than yours, and I didnāt even negotiate. The inertia factor is real OP - Iāve screenshotted the post so that I donāt end up posting the same after 10 yrs
So what is you tc why are you making us calculate it?
Haha I don't know how people calculate TC. I have seen different formulas, so I thought I will just lay out all the money I know and let people read into my TC! You tell me, what's my TC šš
OP, if you donāt know your TC. Your TC is too high for you.
Time to leetcode.
I am already :)
Dude I started at year 0 with a base of 135-140k. That compensation is crumbles at 13 yoe
