Finding out you are getting laid off while you are still in the hospital is not a good look for the HR Dept. And on the eve of the last day of the month nonetheless, which means my insurance would expire the next day. Standard supplemental insurance papers take at least 3-4 business days to reach the recipient. One can deduce that this was all set in motion even as my supervisor knew the medical difficulties I was facing for quite some time. Not bitter at all, just wondering where's the dignity!?
Sorry this happened. What state are you in? Look into COBRA (or similar if not in CA), for health insurance.
I received COBRA paperwork while I was in the Hospital. That's how I found out I was getting laid off.
Sucks, sorry man

Money rule this world. After all it’s all about whether you’re bringing profit to the company or not. I’m very sorry this happened to you, I hope you get better soon.
I’m sorry this happened ... like they say when it rains it pours ..... But did they not offer any severance period/pay ? Even if they don’t COBRA can predate your coverage ... but it’s expensive
Yes I am finding out that COBRA is very expensive. I was actually in the Hospital as I received my COBRA paperwork, I thought you weren't supposed to get it until after they let you go.
Hope things get better soon ... stay strong !
I thought it was 30 days or one period after quitting/lay-off/termination before medical insurance expires? Atleast that’s what it’s been at the companies I’ve quit jobs at.
No severance at all? Best wishes
Pros: you don't have to be there anymore... very disappointing organization to trust
