Where should I go if I want to leave SF bay area and live somewhere else for 1 month?

Originally from Asia and have been living in the SF bay area for the entire time since I've moved here (2 years for MS degree and 6 years for work). Really want to experience how it's like to live somewhere else, and maybe really moving there if it works out well. Company allows remote working for shorter period of time within the states.

A few candidates which I have also visited more than once:
1. Seattle
- Covid situation seems much better than here.
- Restaurants seems as good as bay area. I do love Japanese food and seafood so that's a plus.
- Plenty of national parks around.

2. Los Angeles
- Would be confident to say at least the Asian food there is better.
- COVID situation is really bad.

3. Las Vegas
- Not super sure if restaurants are open or not.
- Worried about it being too hot.

4. Portland
- Seems also pretty chilled to be at for a month.
- Plenty of national parks around just like Portland.

5. East Coast E.g. NY, Boston
- Slightly worried about taking a flight.
- But I could see that the scenes and food are different/better especially in the big cities.

Anything else I should also consider? Or for these four what would you choose :)

Thanks for reading a long post! #remotework #wfh

Edit: I am not planning to travel to multiple destinations in this month but will be staying at the same city once I get there as I know traveling will also increase the risk.

  • The point of companies letting you remote is for you to be safe during a pandemic not for you to travel around

If you really love the outdoors and wouldn’t mind the solitude, I would recommend Colorado or even Montana. Probably wouldn’t get the asian food you’re used to while you’re there, but you’ll see a different side of the US then what you’ve experienced so far. It’s seriously beautiful in those areas in the Midwest.

  • If not for the flight, I would recommend Boston. The east coast has a very different feel esp in Autumn (i work on the west coast now but I like both the west and east).
Portland and Seattle are fantastic but I dont think you need to work out of there for a while to enjoy those places/get a feel for them.
Important: if you are on a visa like I am make sire to check with your lawyers if you need a H1B amendment to do this.

A friend planned for Utah! Apparently Airbnb’s are pretty cheap in SLC since it’s off season.
