What I am trying to accomplish: I currently have a vested 401k balance around 100k within Fidelity that I would like to roll into an IRA.

The strong majority of my contributions have been ROTH, if I understand correctly I can roll the entire ROTH balance into a ROTH IRA.

Where should I do this? Where do ya'll have your IRA held? Do you leverage a financial advisor? I'd hate to give away my money in fees, but if it's the smarter thing to do let me know....

TC: 225k

EDIT: I do not have an option to roll my 401k into a "new employers 401k"

  • If you still work for the 401k company, this is called an in-service withdrawal and isn’t necessarily allowed. It also may not be desirable if you like the 401k investments. Good plans can have lower fees than you get on your own

Fidelity is fine, id probably use that to avoid having multiple accounts. Any of the big names have comparable offerings. Vanguard or Schwab would be fine as well

There’s probably no need to pay anyone to help with this. There should be an online process to do it but you can also call up fidelity or whoever you want to transfer the funds to if you want help
