Amazon is moving some people to Bellevue over next 4 years. Should I buy? If so where? Have a wife but no kids. Don’t plan to have kids for at least five years. Budget $650k
For people saying to rent, are you renting one bedrooms? Everything I see that’s decent is $3000+
For a 1bdr apartment? I pay just under 2k for rent in SLU. I know people in older buildings for under 1500 in Capitol Hill. Where do you see 3000?
How much sq feet...looking for at least 900. I was looking Queen Anne and slu Please let me know where for $2k
With 650K, you need to look further into Suburb.. like Renton/Shoreline
North Beacon Hill or Judkins Park because of the light rail station opening in 2023. Guaranteed commute time to downtown Bellevue and Microsoft, and easy access to downtown Seattle/SLU. One of the few centrally located areas in Seattle with decent sfh's under $1M
Thanks for the tip. I will check it out this week.
Buy - Lake forest park. Soon the new rail system is going to be extended to this city. It is just above north seattle and about 25 min commute to SLU.
Sounder is going to be extended? It shows 1.5 hour commute
Yes. Link light rail will be extended from northgate all the way to lynwood. So buying on rt 523 or rt 522 will give you connectors to the train station and have a good blend of city living and sub urban living.
Don't buy now. Wait 1-2 years before buying. Prices are likely going down by 10-15% over the next 2 years.
Why do you think they are going down? Just curious
I’m in Sammamish- you will never find anything on the eastside for that budget... we are paying $3.6k for 5 bedroom house
All I find are condos...near amazon at least they are good location. East side I’m finding very small or need to be completely renovated ones. I’m so nervous to have a high mortgage that’s why my budget is low. This is my first time making more then $125k. There are 2-4 condos in Bellevue but unsure about area. I’ll need to spend some time there Also, a mortgage on $650k condo (1000 sq ft) with 20% down plus hoa is near $4k. $3600 for a 5 bedroom house seems like a bargain
Don't rent if you have money to buy, it's useless
Do you see yourself in Seattle over the long term? Regardless, I don’t see how an office migration from SLU to Bellevue would prompt a decision as to whether and where to buy a house. There are plenty of people who live in Bellevue and work in SLU, for example, because it’s somewhere that you can actually raise a family.
I don’t have a family...More so I want to buy in Westlake since the lake views are nice and I can walk to work. But wondering if it’s not a good decision if amazon decides to move my team to Bellevue. I don’t want a long commute. Also I can’t really afford anything in Bellevue
What do you consider a long commute?
