Back in the day, Google, Facebook, Apple etc were the companies everyone wanted to work for - lots of investments, high salaries, and 'cool' factor. Now people are disillusioned, there are lawsuits, biased algorithms and AWOL visionary leadership. Which are the NEW cool companies to work for - and why? If you were starting out again, who would you target? Which companies actually provide rewarding work right now? Give it to me Blind TC : 220
Twitter and Spotify seem pretty cool to me honestly.
Airbnb lyft square
Idk how serious this thread is going to turn out, but based past experience, the preferences of new grad top performers are almost always one of the following: Facebook Airbnb Stripe Google Jane Street Two Sigma No particular order
I saw a lot of my Apple colleagues left for start ups. A few years ago, they went for google and FB but now I don’t think there is much “cool” factors for FAANG.
Yeah, I have seen the same from Google and Amazon friends. Walking away from the RSU's and huge salary because they are unfulfilled.
Idk about the unfulfillment part of it, but they’re just not as glamorous as before. I would’ve left Apple several years ago for G/F but not anymore. I love my combination of good work, wlb, and TC here and joining of G/F would hugely compromise at least one of those things
Uber !
Feel like a tech recession right now
A lot of companies can match /beat these except maybe Netflix and google .I got an interview for 175k in Philly for an asset management firm. This equates to easy 300k in the Bay Area . For the right skill set you can pretty much make FAANG comp in a lot of companies .Why this obsession with FAANG?
Uber. Once upon a time nobody could imagine Google being profitable either.
UBER Uber Bird Equifax Robinhood And FUCK Facebook Uber Coinbase Kellogg’s Also SUCK replace fb with Slack
Facebook Apple Netflix Google.
Apple isn't the A in FANG lmao
But now it is.
