Hi everyone, I’m in HW currently and trying to transition to SW roles. I’ve applied to companies like Twilio, Adobe, Oracle, eBay, PayPal, Wish, Rivian but only got a call back from 1 out of these. I am wondering which startups/non FANG companies are open to hiring people from a non SW background?
I switched into SW from a different industry and had to start at a legacy financial company that hired me without any experience. It was frustrating, no one would talk to me during that cycle. After a few years at the legacy company, recruiters were kicking down my door and I switched without much difficulty.
I see thanks!
Expedia. My bachelors degree was in mechanical engineering and somehow ended up here lol
Will try thanks
AMD, Intel, Nvidia, Qualcomm.
Looking to move out of HW
They employ thousands of Software Engineers. So, this may be an easier way to transition.
Dm for Twilio referral
Sure, thanks
Also maybe consider staying in ME. Software jobs in the future will just be outsourced. Pretty difficult to outsource an ME job
If you can get a product/infra SWE interview at FB all you have to do is pass the leetcode interviews and then you van do any type of SWE you want
Thanks I will be targeting that.
