Looking at EVs. Budget around 60k. Of course Tesla model 3 is the first thing that comes to mind, and I really do want a Tesla. But I am trying to be diligent and do my homework first. Based on my research, 2 other close contenders are the Hyundai Kona, and Kia Niro. All have similar range and various smart/safety features. Thoughts? Any others to consider? TC 160 (cliff year...)
If feels like you have already decided will end up buying a Tesla. So GTFO and share pictures when you buy it
I had the same doubt a month ago but ended up buying model 3. no regrets so far, autopilot saves me tons of energy while stuck in traffic
Buy a Leaf so you can drive 50mph in the carpool lane
Lol
Used Model S
Kona and Niro are both compact SUV’s. Both highly rated by Consumer Reports (Niro #1 and Kona #2), higher than Model 3. If you don’t value autopilot, go with Niro.
Thanks. I saw the consumer reports too. Why Niro over Kona?
Niro has a better basic configuration and slightly better consumer ratings. You might be able to get more safety features along with CarPlay for less money if you go with Kia. Hyundai might be more aggressive with discounts though, so you’ll have to shop around. Either way, unless you are getting a Tesla, it’s better to lease an EV rather than buy and you should be able to get a good deal from both Kia and Hyundai. Make the brands compete for your business and threaten to go with Tesla. Check out Leasehackr and Edmunds forums for guidance. I wouldn’t buy anything other than Tesla, but would consider leasing either Niro or Kona If the deal is good.
Prius
Tesla is not just an EV. It is safest, fastest, self driving tech car which will continue getting updates every few months. All other EVs are DOA for now.
