Only industry that comes to my mind is high end clothing business (E.G. Nordstrom). With WFH being realitic for virtually all white collar jobs, theres little incentive to purchase multiple business attire. Are there any other industries?
With permanent wfh there is a big risk of massive outsourcing to lower income markets. TC in tech might suffer. But going to your original question- tech middle management and PMs will likely be trimmed to oblivion.
Well with distance between the teams due to wfh, the need to collaborate and drive towards a common goal is needed more than ever. I actually predict more *M roles than less due to COVID.
Think about this holistically. *Ms job is to get alignment on strategy, timelines, roadmaps etc. If you have a distributed team then everything is a meeting and someone needs to manage the plans, ensure coordination and execution. So one or more of the *Ms will lead this per organization.
