Just wondering where I should make my move next or stay. I have included some others apart from FAANG.

I am asking from strictly Software Engineer PoV, don't need to be best comp but just competitive enough with good learning in work.

When you’re young optimize for learning

Spend 2 years at FAANG to get a resume stamp then jump to a startup / young public company

Yes that's why I am not focusing too much on if pay is the greatest, just want to know which company has best learning opportunities for Software Engineer

FAANGs can have better learning opportunities than startups. Obviously very team dependent

How is Uber a good company? Doesn’t even make profits.

Fuck tech companies, move to rentech, jane street or two sigma.

I have done internships as some fintechs but what I noticed is, may be pay is good, but they are years behind on technology side?
So I won't get as good leanings as tech companies?

Amazon if you want to optimize on learning and delivering results at speed. Switch to pre-IPO or Series C and beyond funded startups with that Amazon experience a couple of years down the line which will hold you in a very good stead both from a TC and growth perspective.

Agree startup will have best learning opportunities but I was thinking currently as fresh grad about to join Amazon I have best chance to crack big companies, and stay on radar of that "elite" group of companies

I fear if I go into startup at start of career and the startup fails, I won't be able to get interviews for big companies then, cause of bad resume

Bad mindset to have. Big and small companies alike prefer someone with experience.
