Congrats geniuses, you just raised the cost of your next Uber/Lyft.

Democrats are retar dad when it comes to money. Actually they should study physics instead, specifically Newton’s third law.

You can’t just regulate something and think it will magically cure the problem. There are always side effects these politicians don’t think of.

E.g.,
Raising minimum wage just means restaurants will fire more people or raise their prices to cover increasing costs of maintaing a staff. Let the free market determine a fair wage. Thats what happened to FANG and why SWE salaries are so high. You need to have a skill in demand and companies will pay you market value for that skill.

Having rent control actually increases the cost of housing because people in rent controlled buildings never want to leave, and landlords know their place is under rent control so once it is vacant they will jack up the price for sure.

Taxing uber/lyft just means they will pass on the cost to its customers.

🤦

I love the pseudoscience people in here citing Newton's third law and second-order effects. Were these buzzwords used on Fox recently?

@OP must think that roads and public infrastructure are magically created. In case you don't know, the government needs money to maintain roads and other forms of infrastructure 😂

Gasoline taxes, tobacco and alcohol taxes are just a fee example of consumer taxes used to fund various initiatives. It’s nothing new

Oh no, a 3.25% tax on Uber/Lyft rides! Even if it is directly applied to the consumer, it's still a good thing. Maybe you should stop taking rideshare if you can't afford it 😂

Of course the proponents know the taxes will raise prices on customers. The bill clearly states it’s intent is to reduce congestion. 3.25% tax on Uber/Lyft within SF. Less on pool. Funds go to public transportation, walkability, and bike lane improvements. Basically both sides to reduce traffic congestion: reduce solo ride feasibility, increase non-car feasibility.

It's possible people voted against their own interests because they thought it'd help others. It happens quite often when it comes to new taxes. Being charitable doesn't make them fools.
