Option 1.--- Stay at Microsoft. Manage a team, work on cool innovate stuff at a world recognized tech brand. I've only been here for 1 year though... Level 65 - Director title Base: $190k Bonus: 20% target RSU: $150k over four years. So $37.5k yearly. So this makes yearly TC to be: 265k TC Option 2.---- No name startup that has IPO'd so stocks are worth something. It's in a non-tech industry. No one really is digitally saavy. They're making a direct to consumer product from the ground up. So think Casper or Hims or Allbirds. Which could be super cool. Director at a 200 person company. Base salary: 200k Bonus: 40% Options: 19,000. Strike price is at $15, but analysts say will trade at $38. So I'm standing to make $437,000 in four years. Which is $109k yearly. So this makes yearly TC to be: $389k
Well it depends on your personality. If you think you can lead such a responsibility task then go for the startup but remember with power comes responsibility
I could lead it for sure. Problem is there's no exit strategy if the startup goes under
Startup. 100%
Why?
Microsoft. The $38 is a big if.
I have a frnd in Microsoft who left it for a startup. He joined amazon few years later for a junior role.
Lmao wtf??
This doesn't right. Was he at a junior role at MSFT too?
What the heck kind of startup has higher offers than Microsoft
Smaller Pie than MSFT for sure, but I'm getting a larger slice.
TC of a director at msft is 265k? This doesnt sound right, but if it is, you should leave asap.
150k in RSUs over 4 years every year is not 150/4. It is 600 long term. So this startup is less money. And you can buy the startup stock if you belive in it ;)
True but the startup could be going up too....
L65 is a NOT a director title at Microsoft. It’s just entry level principal given principal level comprises of L65, 66 and 67
