So, I am an experienced engineer, with references (usually internal), top companies (FAANG) experience, major contributions to high-profile OSS projects.
Why do I have to do multiple calls with a recruiter, phone screen (or two) plus a whole day of Zoom? I don’t think any other industry requires so much time and effort.
Some companies would drop the phone screen. That’s it.
When did this madness start? Was it Google who did it first and other companies blindly followed?
(I understand that smaller companies outside the Bay Area might be more flexible, I’m talking about mid+ size tech companies)

Now, don't ever talk to losers who didn't go to top schools but want to join you. There is a reason they didn't go there. Only vet smart people.
Could we do better? Sure. What do you propose? Move you to the on-site without a phone screen?
