What do you like about your job as a technical program manager, and what do you miss? #tpm #stmp #po #products #technicalprogrammanager
And you think coders don’t bullshit?
They do. But that is not their main responsibility.
I love this community 😂
Why do I see so.much hate against TPM from developers?Do they push you too hard so.that you can deliver your product on time?
no hate but just curious why they can get 6 figs when it’s not much different from a project manager role
They have to understand the technology and architecture of the system. They need to.make sure the pieces software engineers are developing will fit in nicely in the larger system.
Coders can code but ask them to collaborate and they go clueless. That's why as PM the main job is to bring people together and make them talk to each other. So thank you for easy money and huge pride they possess 🤣🤣
I think there are all kinds of TPMs ranging from those who were great engineers who burned out along the way to email monkeys who think they can type emails and get work done. For most part the role is no more than a watchful pair of eyes so the kids don’t go berserk. TPMs don’t get paid as much as engineers, but they don’t have to work as hard either. For most part it’s a dead end job, but so is engineering or management after one hits a certain age.
Yes.
Because I can't code well but I can bullshit well.
