Also there is no diversity . Almost 95% contractors are Indians and from the Indian outsourcing firms . Any other companies in Bay Area similar to Apple ?
Why only contractors? Is&t is not even considered eng/swe group at Apple. They are under CFO.
Because that’s how they can show their power. Interesting fact. Some 250 and odd “consultants” became full time at Apple few years back and they seem to bring the autocratic culture along.
Agree with OP on the diversity bit. Most of the contractors are from Infosys and Exilant, an Infosys offshoot. Even the FTEs are mostly ex-vendors from these companies which show clear bias towards hiring more ex-vendors as FTEs (right to the top, Ranjit is also ex-vendor). Referring your friends and "arranging a good interview panel" is the way to go. What a nice way to augment your TC and getting your incompetent buddies a job on your team.
Perfectly spoken!
Because a broken grammar hasn’t done the needful
glassdoor review:How can arguably one of the best companies in the world run a department such as this one? Tim Cook could seriously give two shits about this organization. It's so sad that it almost makes me want to cry because of the irony of it all- I had the impression I was working at a great company but I was succumbing to serious career suicide. I come from a well known university, I've studied hard and I've worked at other companies in which the engineering group was stellar. Here, my intelligence was insulted by incompetent management who seriously do not know the elementary CS basics.
Wow, that sounds like my thoughts. Both glad and sad that I am not alone who is pissed off.
It was good till 2010 and after that the Indian outsourcing firms entered and it has become a Indian shop . The rates came down from 150-175/hr to 50-75/hr . Horrible place to work . All FTE are from Infosys .
What is IS&T? I just read an article contractors are dealt by apex systems and treated unfairly rather than by apple management..
They treat ftes like shit too!
Can you give some real examples of bad treatment?
