Why Bay area software companies don't open office in East Bay like Fremont?

The commute will be much better, because it will be against the usual traffic.

Technically the valley bounded by two mountain ridges one being San Mateo and other being whatever mission peak ridge is on. Got seagate intel and Corsair, actual hardware cos that are more on Milpitas/ Fremont

Please - East bay is not Silicon Valley is such a wrong thing to say - you have a lot of hardware companies there . Don’t spread misinformation just because you have vested interest somewhere else

I think most companies have HQ in the bay to attract talent.

I’d argue the east bay has worse traffic

East bay has bad traffic because all the offices are in other places - if East bay has a lot more offices (tech) then there will be good traffic

If big software companies like Google also have offices say in Fremont, people will be driving against the usual traffic direction, and maybe spend less time on the road comparing to going to South Bay area like mountain view.

    • Then both directions will be jammed. Please don't.

It’s already overcrowded and pricey due to tech companies. They should open HQ2 in other cities. Leave alone the bay.

880 already has some of the most horrific traffic in the bay since 5 years. The bay is traffic everywhere like LA lol

There is a first mover disadvantage in opening new offices. The talent pool is primarily in South Bay and SF and for most companies, they'd never make another campus in the area.

So really you're depending on Google/Apple/Facebook thinking there is enough talent who'd pick them purely out of being in East Bay to make this office.
