There are so many companies that are just as competitive or better in terms of tech and pay. But I still see tons of posts regarding FAANG as some sort of gold standard.
E.g someone at a top tier but slightly smaller company saying “I’ve never worked for a FAANG, but…”
Who cares? You’re doing better than that.
Not saying that companies like Google, Meta, Netflix aren’t top tier, just saying they’re not alone and people should stop using FAANG as a status term

Sounds super chill, rewarding, pays well, and he has time for family.
Point being, you don’t have to work for one of the massive companies to be fulfilled. In fact likely the opposite is true.
The most selective companies are usually super hyped Y-combinator-esque unicorns or hedge funds. The former group including like Databricks, Dropbox, Airbnb, Stripe, Box, etc. and the latter group including Two Sigma, Jane Streets, Citadel, etc
Google - Advertising company. Jobs revolve around selling moisturizing creams to the right audience.
Netflix - used to be cool when they were pioneering.
Amazon - lol. Awesome many many years ago. Now just a website to buy vacuum cleaner parts.
Apple - fell off a cliff with respect to innovation a few years ago. Maybe Steve Jobs will make a third comeback. I remember in 2008 working 24/7 with a surgical team of devs to make the iPhone a reality. Now, it’s an army of some check cashers.
