People get so angry or make fun of me for complaining that my iq is insufficient for getting into Google, yet it seems that every googler/fber/msft agrees without high iq it's impossible to get in. To solve novel problems, you need innate intelligence. Knowledge can be learned, but the ability to learn cannot be learned. Iq is not a learning rate, it's a learning limit: how can one figure out how to arrange an algo problem in their head or apply a novel technique in 45 minutes without high intelligence? And what hope is there for average iq people like me :(
Practice, reducing new problems to problems seen before, practice, learning to learn, and growth mindset. On some levels it certainly is pretty simple. But the question you might want to ask is, you know you have to become an expert, is it going to be at interview coding problems or something that adds value?
If it's possible to become an expert through pure hard work and average intelligence coding interviews.
The question is did you try as hard to learn and compete, as opposed to theorizing about it. You, like me, aren't in a position to invent game changing paradigms, but you are certainly capable of learning how to solve these coding problems. That's for sure. This has nothing to do with IQ, which is a less effective proxy for intelligence. Your friends are probably pushing you for your negative attitude of blaming IQ when it really isn't. If you said you can't compete at the level of a top-5 PhD program in Maths then I might say yes but not these types of problems.
Chill dude, you post at least 3 threads a week about this. Interviews are crapshoots. Even the interview you passed at amazon was a crapshoot. Learn to play the game. Analytical IQ has nothing on emotional IQ, as every self respecting con man or cult leader will tell you ;)
Dude I haven't posted about this in over 4 weeks.
I love this guy, let him rant! I enjoy his trolls.
This guy is a resurrection of fICL14. I know him very well. He has strong obsession for prestige.
I’m probably not smart enough to get into Google or FB either. Knowing that makes me sad, too. But also, I know that I don’t have to be a genius to make a bajillion dollars and be respected. I’ve got ambition, creativity and a love of working hard. One of these days I’m going to take one of my ideas (I have so so so many) and start working on it. If it fails, I’ll give another of my ideas a go. I might not be smart enough to be google material but I’m creative and hard working enough to make something amazing on my own.
I'm not interested in owning my own company or being a billionaire.
Is this that Amazon kid again but with a different username? You’ve asked this question like 20 times here and on Reddit. Let it go, Amazon is a top company too.
Life isn't fair, and people are born with different levels of abilities. Yes, the majority of people who are at very prestigious companies are really smart and have high IQ and EQ-there's no secret loophole. How do you know you're one of them? Get the job and work with those people, because people hire those like themselves. All that said, the pool of top companies is bigger than you think, and the only person defining success for you is yourself. Google isn't the only "top" company out there (hedge funds, VCs, consulting, startups, etc?). If you feel like your company isn't "prestigious" enough, then focus on moving up in your current one into a senior management role in the future. No one cares about IQ on its own, and there will always be someone smarter than you. All intelligent and successful people have one thing in common, they don't waste their time worrying how smart they are compared to other people and focus their energy on DOING. Results are results, nothing else matters
Your whole post implies that inherently it's impossible to get into a prestigious company if you don't have high iq but I shouldn't think about it, which if I was able to do I would have done.
There is no hope for you. You will wither away with your small 6 figure salary instead of a big six figure salary. Is this obsession to convince yourself that it’s just your IQ and not your attitude? Guess what, it’s probably both.
Don't bother anymore guys. This guy isn't going to listen. I tried working with him in DM and giving him advice, offering help, etc. He doesn't want to actually fix whatever situation he's in. He just wants to bitch and self loathe.
You've never dmed me?
I did under a different username. You don't seem interested in taking concrete steps toward making what you want happen. You seem more content complaining and not putting in the effort. The thing about people at the companies you admire is that behind the scenes they are putting in insane effort. It isn't free and you don't get there by working dumb or working casually.

Avoid teams with only Chinese or Indians especially with a Chinese/Indian manager
It is certainly a factor. But not the only factor, and it is probably far from being a major factor.
But how much of a factor is it? Like let's say it's a weighted measure between iq and practice, which weighs more? And more important what's the minimum iq with which you can get into a top company?
You keep asking these questions as though there's some massive conspiracy to keep the truth from you. But literally nobody knows the answers to those questions. Interviewing and life in general are stochastic processes. The best you can do is keep practicing, keep improving your skills, and keep applying.
