Myself & all of my friends at UWaterloo who have applied for internships at Airbnb over the last 1-3 years have been auto-rejected, even though our resumes are very strong with several internships at Big N companies. However, I have friends at other Canadian schools who have gotten past the resume stage even though they objectively have less experience (one internship, or some internships at more local companies). What gives?
Because waterloo kids are more likely to not accept their return offer for full time since they like to, and can, shop around.
School is not fancy enough. Guess what other community colleges have issues too. Glorified trade school. Consider more bottom bucket eg Marriott IT, Hilton Hotels IT, Diamond Resorts IT. They will take non prestige uni students.
Has Waterloo finally met its Napoleon?
Yep, he said they got internships at big N companies.
Your school has a bad reputation within Airbnb for accepting offers then reneging so unless your application comes with someone internal who can personally vouch for you it’s a waste of our time and money to do interview loop
Lol claim backed by anecdotal evidence turned out to be true
Joke of a policy.
wish I knew, if I had to speculate maybe Waterloo students have a low retention rate or something I can't get an interview for the life of me either (not UWaterloo tho)
