I have noticed that BlackRock keeps on promoting employees who joined as graduate analyst in 2 years to associate , then in 3 years to VP and then in 4-5 years to director level ( so in 10-11 years from your graduation you are a director ) but doesn’t offer lateral hires the titles matching their experience level or promotes them as frequently .... Does anyone agree ? If yes why is that so ?
This is normal in all companies for experienced positions.
I don’t agree with that my previous employers didn’t seem to have a trend ... yes there was politics and favoritism but that was more of a manager to manager behavioral issue not a firm wide trend
The analyst program.
4-5 Years for director? Wow you guys must have a lot of directors.
I think it’s not cumulative. Director in about net 9-10 years sounds like black rock. They have directors and vps dime a dozen.
Yup it’s not cumulative. You’ll be a director in 10-11 years only if they join as graduate analyst ... if you’re a lateral they put you on a slower than usual ( even industry wise ) track. I’ve seen people with 15 years exp joining as VP and that with 8-10 joining as associate. It’s very unfair.
