Recently switched to an Android from an iPhone. First time trying the Gmail app. Why the fuck does it have ads. Love the customization on the new phone though. I like Google products but just stop selling me ads. Is there an email app on Android which will not have ads? I think for emails there should be a native app without ads .. I really thought Gmail would not have ads.. but may be on browser I do not see them due to adblock. Is there any alternative? Another thing I noticed was some apps requiring permissions on things they don't need access to? Never faced this on iPhone. Update: New found love for Apple.. will be switching back soon. I just wonder why people are ok with phone OS selling them ads. PS : previously worked in Google and loved it there. The people are really smart there. This post just a reaction on user privacy on using an Android phone.
They let you use Gmail for free in exchange for showing you ads. Why is this hard to figure out?
Was not experiencing this before on an iPhone. Just comparing the first impression of the new phone. I get it that free apps can definitely sell ads.. but was not expecting from something as basic as emails.
Where have you been? This has been gmail’s model since day one.
English?
What did you not understand? In simple words for you, Gmail app is selling me ads... and I don't like it 😀
Gmail App on my Galaxy has no ads
Hmm.. interesting.. may be you just have to pay a premium to not see ads. Will try a galaxy next time. I wonder if either Samsung has a deal with Google or the customized OS developed by Samsung takes care of it.
I love all the products on Amazon but why the fuck do they charge me for it?
I wonder that too. Why the fuck do I have to pay for it. But on a serious note, I posted it coz I noticed something really different on this phone. There are ads even on native apps. May be I am naive about this. But think about how you would feel when you started seeing ads when opening the settings of your phone. From my perspective email was like a native app that should not have ads.
Gmail on Android has no ads. Wtf did you download?
Are you using some kind of adblock? If so, please tell me. It's a new phone and the app came pre-downloaded. I see ads on the top of every folder as an email.. and that's just annoying.
Which phone did you buy 😂? No adblock, just whoever is making those phones is pushing a bunch of shit on it
I believe the ads are only in your promo tab. Isn't that what promo tab is for?
I am seeing ads on the promotion and social tabs right now. But I think I saw it on the primary tab as well. Just getting confused by seeing ads everywhere.. definitely not experienced it on iPhone. But why would you want to show ads as an email.. to trick people? I know it clearly states that it's an ad, but a lot of old folks like my parents could easily fall for it as an email.
Use Outlook app from Microsoft. It's just another email client and supports Gmail POP/IMAP. It's pretty good and will have no ads.
I have never seen ads on gmail Android

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
Why does Amazon have so many ads. “Can you feel it?”
But, you go on Amazon to buy something.. that seems like an appropriate place to sell ads.. don't get me wrong, I don't like ANY ads. But an email app does not seem like the right place to put adds. And that too on a native app. I was just comparing the experience of using an Android vs an iPhone.
OP, why does fire TV, a paid product have ads?
