Like look at the pixel, it looks extremely dated and way worse than Samsung or apple. Flagships. Also looks worse than one plus and other more budget alternatives. Also not considering phones their google assistant hardware does not have the same level of innovation as Alexa. Also they could have completely dominated the home space but they did not do anything with nest for like 3 solid years. This is coming from a pixel user btw, I really love the software but can’t get over the hardware. Switching to iOS soon
Google has a terrible product culture in general. Many of the top google products since search were just acquisitions.
I use google WiFi, nice product
You don’t have to switch to ios if you hate Pixel. Why not oneplus for instance?
I got tired of Android, phone kept overheating after a year of usage
True. Google tries to solve all problems with software. I am aware how much time and resources were invested in Android battery life optimizations, while breaking compatibility for existing apps. But it’s not enough, they actually need better CPUs and better physical batteries. - Ex Android engineer. Now using iOS

Hardware is a secondary domain to software at Google. You need a different culture to make hardware top tier, in comparison to software. Look at apple and Google - night at day difference in how the companies are run.
Curious to learn more if you could elaborate please
Majority of apple’s revenue generation comes from hardware excellence (iPhone, watch, iPad, Mac, etc).. so they are willing to invest to make their products premium and top quality. Hardware is not a major source of google’s revenue so there’s really no need for them to go out of their way to invest heavily into hardware excellence and quality. In addition, to dominate in hardware, you need to be very anal, authoritarian, and have strict deadlines/timelines - something that sort of doesn’t mesh well with Googles culture. Also Google just doesn’t have much experience in hardware.. it takes years and years to cultivate top hardware talent and create a culture for them to thrive. Source: manufacturing engineer with experience at both Apple and Google. With that being said, I would much rather work at Google for the perks and WLB lmao. Apple was way too anal and zombie-like whereas Google was more “colorful” and cheerful
