Why is Google so unfriendly towards remote work?

One of the most unfriendly towards remote work among tech companies. For example Facebook and Amazon are much better in this regard. Why? Is Sundar Pichai just an ass?

They want google to be your first home and ur real home to be your second home.

That was their strategy from start. Thatโ€™s why they offer four time free food and other in-office perks so that you always remain in office and work and work. And develop attachment to the company so you wonโ€™t leave it so easily.

Part of their "culture". Have always been for getting people into offices. All the perks were to get people into office.
Someone higher up in the company has some backward ass view, maybe Sundar.

They are losing brand value. Everyone including MSFT, AMZN are onboard with WFH. Google is going to be hurt.

All the on campus goodies gave google something in return. It seemed pretty important to Google since they had the best in industry goodies. There is no alternative to get the same returns in a remote working environment. No amount of anything is going to give Google the same returns
