I think the whole thesis of higher cloud adoption due to WFH is bullshit right now. Who’s implementing all this new cloud adoption when software engineers are being laid off? There’s a strong pattern of tech hiring inducing cloud revenue growth. It’s like laying off mechanics and expecting auto part sales to grow faster.
Cloud companies not laying off yet is like auto parts companies not laying off their manufacturing staff, there’s a lag between mechanics’ layoffs and manufacturers’. Also, Microsoft already started with some lay offs in Azure. I think Amazon is still hiring due to e-commerce, not cloud.
I think you were right about higher cloud adoption being higher right away. It will happen but sometime in the future.
