South bay seems very silent and boring. All I see on the roads are cars unlike SF which seems more happening. Is it normal to feel like that? Should I switch my job to SF for the same reason?
Everyone in sf is avoiding south bay for that specific reason.

You see what you want to see. I occasionally visit sf for work and I see a dirty city full of bums, excrements and boring stereotypical hipster techies
Agreed. I'm sorry for those who only know SF and eulogize it. It has a lot of flaws, and they seem to get worse every year.
A lot of SF never sees that stuff and segregates away from it. There is a corridor from the Marina down to Delores Park where the action is for people that can afford it. Workers and tourists all corral in the Tenderloin, Fidi and Soma where it is an ongoing apocalypse.
I worked in both SF and South Bay and hands down I'd prefer south Bay Try finding a parking spot in SF for a week and you'll know. South bay has lots of activities (Kayaking, closer to Santa Cruz, Monterey), lots of spots to camp, chill and relaxing. Personally I prefer to "visit" SF not live there. (Even though my GF lives there)
Mistake 1: Comparing the experience based on having a car. Mistake 2: Comparing the experience based on not having dedicated parking. It is infinitely more convenient for the people living in SF. They have a myriad of fast cheap transportation options. I’m not trying to sell you, just breaking down your argument.
@new: Mistake#1: Assuming I don't have a parking spot. (Did I say I paid $300 for it) If you live without a car in US that's short thinking. If you are juts living in SF, then it's all right to go around in transportation. To answer to OP's question, I always feel that I don't need to think twice to do the same things I do in SF at South bay (I hope this makes sense) The only thing I kinda miss is the beautiful city views but you could visit SF over weekend anyways :D
What did you expect to find in the suburbs?
It is boring. It’s the suburbs. Whether you should switch your job is up to you. Some of us only look for jobs in SF for a reason.
Ya’ll know this is why tech companies are buying blocks of NYC right? An entire company suburb can fit in one skyscraper in Manhattan and the whole work force can get there without a car. There is no compromising between suburb or city. Bay area is the one urban area where the high paying jobs are in the sticks with SF merely chiseling away at that paradigm
Find a GF and won’t be boring anymore..
