Amazon hires fast and fires fast. It’s a bootcamp/stepping stone for folks who don’t have a tech company background. And if you’re already in tech, it’s a decent way to get exposure to new businesses and do a lot at scale. People get out in 1-2 years if they can get a better gig. Either way Amazon grinds folks and asks more of you than it gives.

Every quarter approx 10% loss in the tech workforce. Which means a lot of mass hiring.
Congrats, you have a bunch of friends that couldn't get into FB/G/Albertsons!
Amazon is a stepping stone to FNG. FNG is a stepping stone to Albertsons.
