Have applied ~ 6 times in the past 7 years (with referrals), but have only gotten an interview once. I live in SF and have been working in tech full-time for 4 years now and feel that my skills match several jobs there (non-eng). I have a degree from a top school and do not require visa sponsorship to work in the US. I’m not really sure what’s going on because I get a lot of interest from all the other big tech companies. What skills, experience, or additional education should I gain to maximize my chances of getting noticed there in the next 1-3 years? Salesforce seems like a truly special company and I would love to have a shot one day 😊
What’s so great about it?
They have an awesome culture, from what I’ve heard. Very possibly the best in tech. They also pay very well:
Yea, culture and wlb is excellent. Pay is mediocre, no refreshers or less of it. Work is shitty boring
You likely are not putting anything that stands out on your resume or are applying for roles above your skillset. My first try I got an automated decline, second try was over a year later and I had re-worded lots of what I had accomplished with metrics that showed my impact. I also made a lateral move (however salary made a big increase)
DM me with roles you are interested in (and are relevant).
What skills do you have? What skills are they looking for in their job openings? These questions may give you a clue.
Tried that. The most recent role that I applied for and got referred but never got an interview was a direct match based on LinkedIn (it said I was in the top 10% of applicants based on my profile). The only thing I can really think is that my title is too weird (very company specific)
Change your title on your resume. It shouldn’t be company specific
Maybe they think you’re desperate for applying so many times js lol
Different roles. Spaced years apart. Also have been at the same company for a while now 😊
Any certs? Trailhead/success community/Twitter/LinkedIn presence?
They're too busy gouging their customers with their licensing model.
That was helpful.
Coming from Microsoft that’s rich
I hope you are aware of the fact that their tech stack absolutely sucks. The only reason you might want to join them is if you want good WLB and pay. You are not going to grow as an engineer at Salesforce.
If ours sucks who’s is good? What even is EATON
Most other consumer internet companies. I donno what EATON is.. just because I have account with EATON doesn't mean I work there ;)
SF stack is incredibly complex and innovative, there are lots of challenges from applying the newest research to scaling. @Eaton TC or GTFO
