I dont understand why kudos is good for company culture. I feel kudos is a more of a corporate cringe rather than encouraging teamwork. If I receive help from John, I would feel obligated to send John kudos because everyone else sends kudos and I dont want to be the one that “does not appreciate”. If I’m John, I would expect kudos from everyone I helped and I would question myself if somebody does not send kudos to me. In some companies kudos even rewards people with 💰 so the issue is more complicated. What do you think about kudos?
My org does public kudos in a slack channel. I’m not helping people with the mentality of expecting kudos in return, I do it because collaboration is a part of the job. Most of the times they’re small enough that I don’t get kudos and I’m fine with that. If you give or receive kudos, it’s honestly good for both parties to gain visibility at an org level, and the person you appreciated might remember to appreciate you back next time. But really it depends on the culture
It's dumb bs that makes leaders think it helps morale instead of a pay raise
This
V — visibility.
Well placed recognition has motivated a lot of high performers in my experience but you have to set a high bar for recognition. Also, it matters who's giving the kudos (or, inspire awards, at dell)
I like the kudos here. A little gift card and a gross up on your taxes. Also a nice way to remember something you did for someone (or they did for you) come review time
Good for people who want to manipulate and game the system, nothing more that that
Kudos is BS.

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
I feel like it can kinda become a popularity contest. Like wow person a got all these kudos they must be better than person b who didn’t get as many
