To all the startups out there. I have seen most of the start ups don't hire new grads. Even many entry level positions start with 2+ YOE. How can we convince them to at least look at our profile and give a chance to interview? #startups #hiring
Because they don’t have the money and time cost to cultivate the new grad engineers for at least one year
Depends on the situation of the startup. But look at it from this perspective: Startups are resource constrained. They have less wiggle room for spending, manpower, and time than larger established companies. New grads by nature require (more of) all of the above for onboarding.
To add to this, many start ups look for engineers that can make smart architectural sys design choices because it can determine the future of the company tech stack. This is something you really only hone and get good at with lots of experience.
Larger startups will hire. Smaller startups need experience to take it off the ground. Simply no resources to teach someone on the job (both time and money)
Startup needs people to hit the floor running Self starters who have a proven record of ability to learn and perform. The risk for a bad hire / long on boarding is just too big. Realistically for most startups it ain’t a great fit. Some hire but would usually hit their own contacts first for a candidate. Plus in terms of exposure to you as a candidate they don’t put into it too much
Most of them solve the need for new grads by hiring back their interns.

Well if you can pass the interview they do hire new grads, but I am not sure if you should. I am a new grad at a promising startup.
But for that I should be given test invites. How did you convince recruiter to interview you?
