Just got a L4 offer from Snap. TC is pretty competitive around 360k but I worry about the WLB there. By looking at the details in the offer, I had a question. I could understand people work hard at FB for getting promo sooner or higher refresh. People work hard at Amazon because of the amazing PIP policy. I meet with several engineers at Snap during the interview. Everyone seems busy and moves fast. Wondering what do engineers at Snap work hard for? Promo: As a L4 engineer at Snap, it's much harder to get promo since L5 is almost L6 in other tech company. Annual bonus: still 🥜 even though you get full. Stock Refresh: a fixed number not related with performance. Base Salary: I don't think the raise of base salary worth for such hard work. Please correct me if I am wrong. PIP: not a pip factory as far as I know. Or they just love the company and they are passionate about their product and their project. They believe their hard work could bring huge impact which lift the stock price? YOE: 2.5 TC: 🥜 #engineering #snap

Theres no way you got a $360k offer with 2.5 YOE @ Houzz
We don't wanna hire people like you who don't wanna work hard. One of the reasons our stock went up a lot is because people work hard. You could ask why people work hard in life I guess.
Stop talking like you represent the entire company.
I don't mean I don't want to work hard. I work hard if I think it worth. No motivation, no hard work.
the combination of being kind AND incompetent/lazy is the worst possible. Thanks fully people in my org work hard.
What’s your offer TC?
